A 57-year-old man escaped with only minor injuries when his car went off the road in Imperial and overturned into Rock Creek Saturday (March 22), the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
“We were notified just before 9 a.m.,” Capt. Ron Arnhart said Monday. “It happened at Seckman Road and the (West) Outer Road. It was a 2002 Dodge Intrepid, and the driver was traveling east on Seckman Road. He drove off the right side of the roadway and traveled until the vehicle hit the creek bank, then overturned.”
The car came to rest in about a foot of water, and the driver, whose name is not being released, was able to crawl from his vehicle, Arnhart said.
“He was checked by EMS at the scene,” Arnhart said. “He had bruising and some minor injuries, but he was not transported (to a medical facility). The vehicle was towed from the scene.”
Arnhart said the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
“The road conditions were dry; the weather was clear and it was daylight,” he said. “Driver fatigue is listed in the official report.”
