Walter H. Summers, 65, of Lonedell died today (Nov. 4) following a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 30 east of Ridge Road in Dittmer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
In addition, a 33-year-old Dittmer woman was seriously hurt in the accident, the report said.
She also was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and involuntary manslaughter, the patrol reported.
At 11:20 a.m., The woman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala west on Hwy. 30, “traveling too fast for conditions,” crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 1989 Ford Ranger head-on that Summers was driving, according to the report.
Summers was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:24 p.m., the report said.
The woman also was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s.
It’s unknown whether either driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
