Two Jefferson County men, one from De Soto and the other from Barnhart, were seriously hurt this morning (Feb. 5) in separate vehicle accidents, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 6:25 a.m., Andrew J. Dunnegan, 32, of De Soto was driving a 2007 Honda Fit east on Hwy. 110 west of Hwy. 67 in the De Soto area, and his car began sliding, ran off the north edge of the road and struck a tree, the report said.
Also at 6:25 a.m. this morning, Randall E. Zumbrun, 20, of Barnhart was driving a 1991 Chevrolet S10 east on Engle Creek Road west of Metropolitan Boulevard in Barnhart, lost control of the pickup on the ice-covered road, and the pickup ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to the report.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
Dunnegan was taken by helicopter to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in fair condition this afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Zumbrun was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City and then transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
Both vehicles were totaled in the wrecks, the report said.
