An Imperial motorcyclist was injured in an accident that involved two other vehicles Saturday afternoon (July 30) on Main Street at I-55 in Imperial.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Nathaniel Coomer, 30, of Fenton was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy east on Main Street and was approaching I-55 at 3 p.m. when he was distracted and failed to notice traffic stopped ahead. He ran into a 2003 Yamaha YZFR6 ridden by Thomas Darwin, 29, of Imperial, and the impact of that collision threw Darwin off his motorcycle and into the rear window of a 2003 Madza 6 driven by Allison Logan, 20, of Imperial. The motorcycle also was pushed into the rear of the Mazda, and then the GMC drove over the motorcycle and hit the Mazda. The GMC and the motorcycle then caught on fire, the report said.
Darwin sustained serious injuries in the accident and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County.
He was listed in satisfactory condition on Sunday afternoon (July 31), a hospital spokesman said.
No injuries were reported to Coomer or Logan.
Coomer and Logan were wearing seat belts and Darwin a helmet, the report said. The GMC and the motorcycle were totaled while the Mazda had extensive damage.
