An Imperial man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated late Friday afternoon, Oct. 11, after he crashed a motorcycle he was riding into a recreational vehicle parked along Hwy. 67 at St. Francois State Park in St. Francois County. The 32-year-old man was seriously injured, the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
At 3:51 p.m., the Imperial man was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on the highway and struck the rear of a 2016 Airstream Sprinter that was parked in the median crossover, and then the motorcycle overturned, the report said.
Joy D. Henthorne, 88, of Poplar Bluff was driving the RV. No injuries were reported for her.
The Imperial man was taken by an Air Evac helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital, according to the report.
He was wearing a helmet, and Henthorne was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The motorcycle was totaled, and the RV sustained minor damage, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the Imperial man for DWI at 4:13 p.m. at the hospital, according to the report.
The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him in the case, and as of this morning, Oct. 12, none had been filed.
