An Illinois motorcyclist was seriously hurt Saturday evening (Sept. 28) in a traffic accident on Hwy. M in Otto that involved three motorcycles and a car.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Mary Edwards, 73, of House Springs was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla west on Hwy. M at Hwy. 21 at 8:20 p.m. when a 2005 Harley Davidson ridden by Scott Ross, 56, of Fairview Heights, Ill., served to avoid her and overturned. A 2007 Harley Davidson ridden by Christopher Bland, 47, of Grafton, Ill., then ran into the rear of the Toyota, and a 2015 Harley Davidson ridden by Ronald Chamberlin, 46, of Troy was struck by debris.
Bland sustained serious injuries and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
The report made no mention of injuries to Edwards, Ross and Chamberlin.
Edwards was wearing a seat belt and the three motorcyclists were wearing safety helmets, the report said. The Toyota had minor damage; Bland’s motorcycle was damaged extensively while the other two motorcycles had moderate damage.
