A Maroa, Ill., man was injured Sunday morning (Feb. 6) in a crash involving three tractor-trailers on Hwy. 67 north of Meyer Road southwest of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 10:05 a.m., Steven L. Rogers, 32, of Maroa, Ill., was driving a 2019 Peterbilt big rig south on the highway and reportedly failed to see traffic stopped ahead, and the front of the tractor-trailer struck the rear of a 2020 Volvo big rig, which was stopped behind a 2020 Peterbilt big rig, the report said.

Jerry D. Elder, 55, of Cleburne, Texas, was driving the Volvo, and Christopher L. Richardson, 34, of Gatesville, Texas, was driving the 2020 Peterbilt. No injuries were reported for either one of them.

However, Rogers was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

It’s unknown if Rogers was wearing a seat belt, and Elder and Richardson were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The 2019 Peterbilt was totaled, the Volvo was moderately damaged, and the 2020 Peterbilt had minor damage, the report said.
