A House Springs man and a Shrewsbury woman were hurt Wednesday afternoon (May 15) in a three-vehicle accident on I-44 at mile marker 277 in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 1:45 p.m., a 1992 Toyota MR2 driven by Charles M. Bohnert, 70, of Fenton stalled in Lane 3 of the eastbound lanes, and Christina Hair, 70, of Shrewsbury, driving an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Trax SUV, tried to avoid the car but struck the driver’s side. Then, Raymond J. Cataldo, 52, of St. Louis, driving an eastbound 1997 Chevrolet Astro van, was changing lanes and struck one of the vehicles, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Bohnert or Cataldo. However, Hair was moderately injured, and a passenger in the van – Brian C. Immethun, 50, of House Springs – was moderately injured.
Hair was taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights, where she was listed in stable condition today (May 16), a hospital spokeswoman said.
Immethun was taken by private conveyance to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton.
Information about Immethun’s condition was not available today (May 16).
All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The SUV and van were totaled, and the car was moderately damaged, the report said.
