A Hillsboro man and teen and a Valles Mines man were injured Tuesday night (May 26) in a two-car accident at highways 21 and 110 north of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8 p.m., Nicholas A. Jeffries, 27, of Valles Mines was driving a 2018 Kia Forte south on Hwy. 21 and while turning left, he pulled into the path of a northbound 2005 Toyota Camry, and the front left side of the Camry struck the front right side of the Forte, the report said.

Ralph R. Ackerman, 43, of Hillsboro was driving the Camry. Both he and Jeffries were moderately injured, as was a passenger in the Camry – a 13-year-old girl from Hillsboro, according to the report.

Ackerman and the teen were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Jeffries was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.

Both men were treated and released, a Mercy spokesman said. No information was available about the girl’s condition.

Jeffries and the girl were wearing seat belts, but Ackerman was not wearing one, the patrol reported.

The two cars were extensively damaged, the report said.
