traffic accident 2 patrol patch

Robyn I. Helferstay, 47, of High Ridge was injured Wednesday morning (Feb 7) when a tractor-trailer hit the convertible she was driving on Old Hwy. 21 west of Rock Creek Road in Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 6:45 a.m. Marcus F. Danner, 26, of Hazelwood was driving a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer south on Old Hwy. 21, and Helferstay, driving a 2009 Volkswagen EOS convertible, pulled out of a gas station parking lot in front of the big rig, the report said.

Danner tried to stop the tractor-trailer, swerving the truck to the left, but the front of the big rig struck the front left side of the Volkswagen, according to the report.

Helferstay was moderately injured and was transported by Big River Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where she was treated and transferred elsewhere, a hospital spokesman said this afternoon (Feb. 8).

There were no injuries reported for Danner, who was wearing a seat belt. Helferstay was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The Volkswagen was totaled, and the tractor-trailer was moderately damaged, the report said.
