A 36-year-old High Ridge man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated following a crash that led to the death of a 20-year-old Dittmer woman, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:25 p.m. on Feb. 14, the man was driving an eastbound 2021 Acura ILX on Hwy. 30 at Hwy. B in Cedar Hill when he allegedly ran a red light and struck the right side of a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt driven south by the Dittmer woman, the report said.
The man was moderately injured, and both drivers were taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
At 4:08 p.m. on Feb. 14, the man was arrested for a DWI resulting in a serious physical injury and was held at the hospital for 24 hours, the report said.
Hospital personnel pronounced the woman dead at 12:10 p.m. Feb. 16, the report said.
The name of the driver won’t be released unless he is formally charged. As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed.
According to the report, the High Ridge man was wearing a seat belt, and it is unknown if the woman was wearing one.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
