A Fredericktown man was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident Tuesday evening (March 31) on Hwy. 67 at Buck Creek Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 5:35 p.m., Gordon L. Smith, 42, of Fredericktown was riding a 1996 Harley-Davidson north on Hwy. 67, and an unknown vehicle struck the rear of the bike, which then began to skid, ran off the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting Smith, the report said.
He was taken by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he was listed in good condition this morning (April 2), a hospital spokesman said.
Smith was not wearing a helmet, the patrol reported.
The bike was extensively damaged, the report said.
