A Festus man and an Illinois man were injured late Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 30) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. Z east of Mapaville-Hematite Road in the Mapaville area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:15 p.m., Terry D. Kroenig, 75, of Belleville, Ill., was driving a westbound 2009 Lincoln Town Car in the wrong lane of travel, and struck an eastbound 2007 Ford 150 pickup head-on, the report said.
Jay L. Wolk, 59, of Festus was driving the pickup.
Kroenig was seriously injured, and Wolk had minor injuries. Both men were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where Wolk was treated and released and Kroenig was treated and transferred to another area hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
The two drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Town Car was totaled, and the pickup was moderately damaged, the report said.
