A Festus man was seriously hurt in an accident Saturday afternoon (Nov. 26) while the utility task vehicle he was riding overturned in St. Joe State Park near Park Hills in St. Francois County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Matthew Fernandez, 21, was riding a Polaris Ranger UTV in the off-road riding area of the state park at 1:50 p.m. when he made an abrupt turn and the vehicle overturned.
Fernandez sustained serious injuries and was taken by St. Francois County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
An update on his condition was not available.
Fernandez was wearing a seat belt, the report said. The Polaris had minor damage.
