Richard W. Lutz, 59, of Festus was hurt Thursday afternoon (Oct. 18) in a one-vehicle accident on I-55 at Butler Hill Road in south St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:52 p.m., Lutz was driving a 2008 Chevrolet HHR south on I-55, and the vehicle ran off the left side of the interstate and struck a concrete median but then returned to the interstate before again running off the left side and striking the median a second time, the report said.
He was moderately injured and taken by private conveyance to an urgent care, according to the report.
He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The vehicle was extensively damaged, the report said.
