Mallissa M. Beckmann, 35, of Fenton died Tuesday morning (Dec. 12) following a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 21 south of Meramec Bottom Road in south St. Louis County. In addition, a St. Louis woman was hurt in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At about 6:20 a.m., Beckmann was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra north on Hwy. 21, and while she tried to pass traffic congestion ahead, the car began skidding, crossed the center of the road, and the front of the car struck a concrete barrier at the edge of the road, the report said.
At the same time, Debbie L. Indelicato, 61, of St. Louis was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala south on Hwy. 21 in the same area and applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid the Elantra, but the front end of the Impala hit the passenger side of the Elantra, according to the report.
Beckmann was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where she was pronounced dead at 8:37 a.m., the report said.
Indelicato was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s, where she was listed in good condition this afternoon (Dec. 13), a hospital spokesman said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Elantra was totaled, and the Impala was extensively damaged, the report stated.
