A House Springs man is listed in serious condition after his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by a Fenton woman who was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Saturday evening (Feb. 18) in the Meramec Heights area west of Arnold.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Scott Metcalf, 44, of House Springs was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Old Hwy. 21 north of Rock Creek Road at 10:55 p.m. when he stopped in the road for an unknown reason. An oncoming 2010 Ford Focus driven by the 39-year-old Fenton woman failed to see the motorcycle stopped, and the Focus struck the motorcycle.
Metcalf sustained serious injuries and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in serious condition.
The Fenton woman was not injured. She was arrested by patrol officers on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the report said.
She will not be named unless she is charged with a crime by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Metcalf was wearing a helmet and the Fenton woman was wearing a seat belt, the report said. Both vehicles had moderate damage.
