Farmington man seriously hurt in crash near De Soto

Firefighters rescue a driver from his car following a crossover crash on Hwy. 67.

A Farmington man was injured Dec. 16 in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 67 and Flucom Road southeast of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:34 p.m., Josephine Miller, 61, of Imperial, in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, attempted to turn left onto eastbound Flucom Road from southbound Hwy. 67 and reportedly failed to yield to a northbound 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by 48-year-old Kevin R. Drinnin of Farmington, and the two cars crashed head-on. The Cobalt came to rest in the grass, and the Corolla traveled down an embankment, striking several trees, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Miller, but Drinnin was seriously injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in satisfactory condition on Monday, Dec. 18, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Miller was wearing a seat belt, but Drinnin was not wearing one, the patrol reported.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.

De Soto Rural Deputy Fire Chief John Scullin said firefighters had to cut down a lot of trees to get to Drinnin with a stretcher, adding that it took about an hour to rescue him from the vehicle.
