A Eureka woman was injured in a St. Louis County crash on I-44 between High Ridge and Valley Park that led to a St. Clair man’s arrest on Monday, March 11, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7:18 p.m., Kathy A. Riggs, 53, was driving a westbound 2019 Nissan Rogue and slowed down. According to the report, a 35-year-old St. Clair man driving a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, failed to keep a proper lookout and struck the rear of the Nissan.

Riggs was moderately injured and taken by Fenton Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in St. Clair, the report said.

As of Tuesday morning, March 12, Riggs was in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The St. Clair man was arrested at 8:15 p.m. for failure to appear for a previous careless driving charge in Franklin County and is being held with bond in St. Louis County, the report said.

According to the report, the drivers were not wearing seat belts and both vehicles were moderately damaged.
