A Eureka woman was hurt and a Troy woman and baby were killed Thursday morning (June 28) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 61 south of Granville Road in St. Charles County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 6:04 a.m., Miranda L. Jercick, 26, of Troy was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Gallant north on Hwy. 61, and the car began to skid before running off the left side of the road, overturning in the median and then re-entering the road, where the front of a southbound SUV struck the roof of the car, the report said.
Donna J. Hay, 55, of Eureka was driving the SUV, a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. She was moderately injured and taken by St. Charles County Ambulance to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles.
Jercick and a passenger in the car – infant Rylen A. Jercick of Troy – were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
Hay was wearing a seat belt, and the baby was restrained with a safety device. However, Miranda Jercick was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
