Two people died early this morning (March 24) from injuries sustained in a one-car accident on Jeffco Boulevard north of Riverbluff Drive near the Imo’s Pizza restaurant in Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Both the driver, Joseph L. Resinger, 34, who has addresses in House Springs and St. Louis, and a passenger, Alexis E. Summers, 19, of Imperial, died, the report said.
At 2:58 a.m., Resinger was driving a 1998 Buick Regal north on Jeffco and ran off the east side of the road, where the car struck a utility pole, ejecting Summers, the report said.
Resinger was pronounced dead at the scene by Rock Community Fire personnel.
Summers was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where she was pronounced dead at 7:23 a.m., according to the report.
Resinger was wearing a seat belt, and Summers was not wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Buick was totaled, the report said.
Jeffco Boulevard was shut down between Starling Airport and Tenbrook roads until about 5:30 a.m., Arnold Police reported on its Facebook page.
The accident also knocked out power at about 3:15 a.m. for four Ameren customers, a company spokeswoman said. Those customers are not expected to have power restored until about 5 p.m., according to Ameren’s website.
