A De Soto man and a St. Louis woman were injured Tuesday evening (Aug. 31) in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 67 and Flucom Road east of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7 p.m., Derek J. Heaston, 28, of De Soto was driving a 2016 Hyundai Elantra north on the highway and while turning left onto Flucom Road, pulled in front of a southbound 2015 Toyota RAV4 driven by Teresa A. Robertson, 57, of St. Louis, and the front of the RAV4 struck the front right side of the Elantra, the report said.
Heaston was seriously injured, and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in serious condition late this afternoon (Sept. 1), a hospital spokeswoman said.
Robertson was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.
Heaston was not wearing a seat belt, and Robertson was wearing one, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
