Mark K. Williams, 66, of De Soto was injured Friday night (Oct. 15) in a two-car accident on Hwy. 67 north of Hwy. CC near Olympian Village, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 8:08 p.m., Williams was driving a 2009 Ford Focus south on Hwy. 67 and ran into the rear of a southbound 2020 Malibu that was stopped in the left lane because of a mechanical issue, the report said.
Derrell L. Barnes, 21, of Poplar Bluff was driving the Malibu. No injuries were reported for him.
Williams, however, was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
He was not wearing a seat belt, and Barnes was wearing one, the patrol reported.
Both cars were totaled, the report said.
