Gerad F. Neihouse Jr., 50, of De Soto died Wednesday afternoon (June 3) following a three-car accident on Hwy. 67 north of Hwy. 110 near Olympian Village, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

In addition, a Farmington man and a Hillsboro man were hurt in the wreck, the report said.

At 12:50 p.m., John B. Hulsey, 30, of Farmington was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier south on Hwy. 67 and struck the rear of a southbound 1989 Chrysler LeBaron that had slowed, and then a southbound 2013 Lexus GS350 struck the rear of the Cavalier, the report said.

Ellis J. Marsey, 71, of Hillsboro was driving the LeBaron, and Haley E. Pirtle, 38, of Farmington was driving the Lexus.

No injures were reported for Pirtle.

However, Neihouse, who was a passenger in the LeBaron, was seriously hurt and taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., the report said.

Hulsey had minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released.

Marsey was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in serious condition this afternoon (June 4), a hospital spokesman said.

Hulsey and Pirtle were wearing seat belts, and Marsey and Neihouse were not wearing them, the patrol reported.

The Cavalier and LeBaron were totaled, and the Lexus had minor damage, the report said.
