A 59-year-old De Soto man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident that happened about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Hwy. 110 and Upper Plattin Road west of Olympian Village, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
The De Soto man was driving a 2007 Ram 2500 north on the highway and allegedly ran a stop sign before trying to turn left in front of an eastbound 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Dale L. Hoffman, 34, of De Soto. The front of the Tahoe struck the left side of the Ram, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Hoffman.
However, the 59-year-old man was moderately injured and taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where he was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday, Sept. 21, a hospital spokesperson said.
According to the report, Hoffman was wearing a seat belt and the 59-year-old man was not wearing one.
The Ram was extensively damaged, and the Tahoe had minor damage, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the 59-year-old man at 5:40 p.m. at the hospital for DWI-persistent offender.
His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of today, none had been filed.
