A 31-year-old Crystal City man has been arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance following a two-vehicle accident that happened Thursday night (Jan. 26) on Hwy. 141 at Romaine Creek Road in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

The Crystal City man and three others were hurt in the accident, the report said.

At 9:10 p.m., the Crystal City man was driving a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country north on Hwy. 141 in the left-turn lane and while attempting to turn left onto Romaine Creek Road, the front of the van struck the left side of a Jeep that was headed south in the right lane, the report said.

Ashleigh R. Finley, 29, of Arnold was driving the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. She sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton, where she was listed in stable condition this morning (Jan. 27) and was expected to be released later today, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The Crystal City man sustained minor injuries, and two passengers in the van – Christina S. Rhodes, 32, of Crystal City and Thomas S. Day, 32, of St. Louis – sustained moderate injuries, the report said.

The driver of the van and his passengers were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The van was extensively damaged, and the Jeep was moderately damaged, the report said.

The Crystal City man was arrested at the hospital and released from custody pending application for warrants.

The highway patrol will seek charges against the man for alleged DWI and possession of a controlled substance, but as of today, no charges had been filed.
