A 74-year-old Crystal City man allegedly was driving the wrong way, causing a head-on accident Thursday afternoon (March 7) on Hwy. 32 east of Elvins Road in St. Francois County and leaving a 47-year-old Ironton man seriously hurt, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:05 p.m., the Crystal City man allegedly was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 the wrong way, headed west on Hwy. 32, and the front of the pickup struck the front of an eastbound 1998 Honda Civic driven by Erik J. Bolhafner, 47, of Ironton, the report said.
Bolhafner was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
Information about his condition was not available today (March 9).
Both men were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
