An Imperial woman was hurt Saturday afternoon (Feb. 4) when she was a passenger in a car involved in a traffic accident on I-55 south of Meramec Bottom Road in south St. Louis County just north of Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 2:10 p.m., Mitchel Oldani, 25, of Arnold was driving a 2006 Pontiac GS north on I-55, and a vehicle in front of him stopped, so Oldani attempted to stop, but the Pontiac crossed the two inside lanes and struck the median wall, rolling backward and then hitting the concrete shoulder wall. The vehicle in front of Oldani continued north, the patrol reported.
Oldani was not hurt, but a passenger in the car, Shannon Beckley, 36, of Imperial, sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Mehlville Fire Protection District to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Oldani and Beckley were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The car was extensively damaged, the report said.
A story about the accident that previously was published on the Leader website said Beckley was a pedestrian, as indicated on the unofficial patrol report at the time, but Beckley was not a pedestrian. Instead, she was a passenger in the Pontiac, Cpl. Juston Wheetley said. The Leader apologizes for the error.
