Dawson R. Katzenberger, 17, of Barnhart is still hospitalized today (May 4), four days after he was seriously hurt in a one-car accident on East Rock Creek Road west of Placid Hills Drive outside of Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9 p.m. Monday evening (April 30), Maxim N. Chebanenko, 17, of Arnold was driving a 1993 Mazda Miata west, and the car ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree stump and a tree, the report said.
Chebanenko was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today (May 4).
Katzenberger, who was a passenger in the car, also was taken to St. Anthony’s but then was transferred to another area hospital, the spokesman said.
No information about Katzenberger’s condition was available today.
Initially, St. Anthony’s gave incorrect information about Katzenberger that was reported in a May 1 story on the Leader website.
Both teens were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Miata was totaled, the report said.
