A Columbia woman and a Fulton man were injured Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6, in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 at mile marker 166 south of Crystal City, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 2:49 p.m., Aniyah D. Williams, 19, of Columbia was driving a 2021 Jeep Compass north on the interstate and struck the rear of a northbound 2021 Volvo driven by David J. Rodenberg, 49, of Fults, Ill. Then the Jeep ran off the right side of the road and overturned, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Rodenberg.

However, Williams was seriously injured, and a passenger in the Jeep – Lance D. Maxwell, 32, of Fulton – was moderately injured. Both were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Maxwell was treated and released, and Williams was transferred to Mercy South in St. Louis County, where she was listed in good condition today, a Mercy spokesman said.

Williams, Rodenberg and Maxwell were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The Compass was totaled and the Volvo had minor damage, the report said.
