Toni A. Smith, 55, of Cedar Hill was seriously injured Sunday evening (Jan. 10) in a one-car accident on Hwy. 47 north of College Road in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7 p.m., Thomas C. Smith, 66, of Cedar Hill was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic south on the highway and ran off the left side of the road, where the car struck an embankment and a tree and then overturned and struck a utility pole, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Thomas Smith, but Toni Smith, who was a passenger in the car, was hurt and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington, according to the report.

Both the Smiths were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The car was extensively damaged, the report said.
