Two 18-year-olds, one from Cedar Hill and the other from Pacific, were seriously hurt Thursday morning (Oct. 17) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. OO at Forest Glen Drive in Franklin County. After the wreck, the Cedar Hill teenager was arrested for suspicion of underage drinking, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 8:45 a.m., the Cedar Hill teen was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee north on the highway, allegedly traveling too fast for the road conditions, and the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and over Forest Glen Drive and then landed in a dry creek bed, where it struck a large rock before overturning, the report said.
The Cedar Hill teen and a passenger in the Jeep – Melvin T. Miniefee, 18, of Pacific – were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
The Cedar Hill teen was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
However, the spokesman said the hospital had no information about Miniefee.
It’s unknown if either teen was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Jeep was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the Cedar Hill teen later that night at the hospital, according to the report.
