Two Bonne Terre teenagers were injured Thursday night, Sept. 26, in a one-car accident on Hwy. 67 south of Timberwood Lane south of Olympian Village, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
A 17-year-old Bonne Terre woman was driving a southbound 2007 Saturn Ion and struck an animal on the highway before losing control of the car, which ran off the right side of the road and struck a rock bluff and tree, the report said.
The young woman and a passenger in the car – a 16-year-old male from Bonne Terre – were moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Both teens were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The car was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the teens’ names because they are juveniles.
