fatal traffic accident

A Barnhart man and a St. Robert man died Jan. 21 in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 50 just east of Hwy. N southwest of Freedom in Osage County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 4:09 p.m., Kales S. Durr, 22, of St. Robert was driving a 2011 Ford E450 west on Hwy. 50 and while trying to pass a tractor-trailer, he reportedly entered the eastbound lane and struck an eastbound 1997 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Zachary M. Patchin, 28, of Barnhart head-on. After the collision, the Ford ran off the south side of the road and overturned, and the Chevrolet caught fire and burned completely, the report said.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by Osage County Coroner A.J. Probst, according to the report.

The two men were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
