A Barnhart man and a Bonne Terre woman were injured this morning (Nov. 23) in a three-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Imperial Main Street, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 5:45 a.m., Jackie A. Johnson, 44, of Barnhart was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado south on the interstate, and while he was attempting to pass a southbound 2012 Nissan Juke on the right and switch lanes, the left rear of the Silverado struck the front right of the Juke, the report said.
After that collision, both the Silverado and the Juke struck the median wall, and then then a southbound 2016 Kia Soul struck the Juke, according to the report.
Jessica L. Gossett, 30, of Bonne Terre was driving the Juke, and Alexis L. Boehm, 27, of Festus was driving the Soul, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Boehm. However, Johnson and Gossett were moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
All the drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The three vehicles were totaled, the report said.
