A 22-year-old Barnhart man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident this morning (Dec. 3) on Old Lemay Ferry road south of Regency Woods Place in Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:23 a.m., the man was driving a 2012 Ford Transit van south on Old Lemay Ferry Road and steered to the right to avoid striking another vehicle, and then the van ran off the right side of the road, where it struck a mailbox and a utility pole, the report said.
No information about the other vehicle was provided.
The Barnhart man was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The van was extensively damaged, the report said.
The patrol arrested the man at about 1:10 a.m. at the hospital.
The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this morning, none had been filed.
