Arnold Police are trying to identify the driver of a red Ford Explorer who allegedly ran into a light pole and fire hydrant near the northwest corner of the Walmart parking lot, 2201 Michigan Ave. Both the pole and hydrant were destroyed, but an estimate for the damage was not provided, police reported.

Surveillance footage from the area reportedly showed the Explorer hit the pole and hydrant at about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 22 and then be driven away from the scene of the accident, the report said.

The city of Arnold is listed as the owner of the pole, and the Public Water Supply District 1 in Arnold is listed as the owner of the hydrant, Capt. Rich Shular said.

The surveillance footage did not provide an image of the SUV’s license plate, and as of Nov. 30, the driver of the Explorer had not been identified, Shular said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
