A 41-year-old Arnold man died after a motorcycle he was riding was stuck by an SUV in St. Louis County. The man driving the SUV has been charged for the apparent hit-and-run accident, court records show.
Michael Bartholomew died on Aug. 11 after being transported to an area hospital. He had been riding a motorcycle north on Lindbergh Boulevard when an SUV struck him near Flori Drive at about 5:50 p.m., St. Louis County Police reported.
At about 7:30 p.m. on the day of the accident, Tony Artice Jr., 37, allegedly told officers at a St. Louis County Police precinct that he was driving the SUV that hit Bartholomew. Officers found the SUV in the 5100 block of Maple Avenue in St. Louis, and they allegedly saw damage from where the SUV and motorcycle collided, the report said.
The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Artice today, Aug. 12, with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, court records show.
Artice was being held as of today on a $25,000 cash-only bond at St. Louis County Jail, police reported.
St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives investigated the case.
