An Arnold man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a traffic accident Friday night (Dec. 1) in which three Arnold residents were hurt, including two children.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 56-year-old Arnold man was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on I-55 north of Butler Hill Road in the Oakville area of south St. Louis County at 9:55 p.m. when he swerved to avoid running into the rear of a 2011 Buick Lacrosse driven by Robert Sievers, 69, of Arnold. The driver of the Trailblazer then overcorrected, causing the Buick to run into the concrete median, then the Trailblazer overturned.

The driver of the Trailblazer was arrested by Highway Patrol officers at 10:48 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County. The patrol report made no mention of an injury to the driver.

He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Sievers sustained moderated injuries, as did a passenger in the Buick, Dylan Sievers, 11; another passenger, Faith Sievers, 8, had minor injuries. All three were taken by Mehlville Ambulance to at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, the report said.

Robert Sievers and Dylan Sievers were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said, as was the driver of the Trailblazer.

A report was not available on Faith Sievers, the spokesman said.

All three of the Sievers were wearing seat belts, the report said, while the driver of the Trailblazer was not. The Trailblazer was totaled and the Buick had extensive damage, the report said.
