An Arnold man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident late Saturday afternoon (Aug. 29) in Ripley County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 41-year-old was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor south on Hwy. JJ four miles between Doniphan and Fairdealing at 5:30 p.m. when the car ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and the car then ran off the left side of the road, where ran into a ditch and overturned.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
He was arrested by Highway Patrol officers on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, driving without auto insurance, not wearing a seatbelt and failing to drive on the right half of the road.
He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the Ripley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The car was totaled in the crash.
