A 25-year-old Arnold man recently was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and assault following a one-vehicle accident at Old Lemay Ferry and Richardson roads in Arnold. The driver and two passengers – a 19-year-old Arnold man and a 20-year-old Arnold woman – were hurt in the accident, but none had life-threatening injuries, Arnold Police report.
At 11:45 p.m. Feb. 10, the 25-year-old man was driving north on Old Lemay Ferry Road “at a high rate of speed,” hit a bump and lost control of the vehicle, which hit a mailbox and a tree and rolled over on the right edge of the road, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
Neither the driver nor the passengers was wearing a seat belt, and they were ejected from the vehicle. They were all transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, Jones said.
The driver refused to submit a blood sample, but he was arrested at the hospital for the alleged DWI and assault. Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.
