An Arnold man and a Wentzville woman were injured in a four-vehicle accident Monday, Aug. 29, at Old Hwy. 21 and Lions Den Road west of Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:50 p.m., Aniston J. Boxx, 18, of Arnold was in a westbound 2007 Dodge Caliber and while turning left onto Old Hwy. 21 from Lions Den Road, he pulled into the path of a northbound 2019 Freightliner M2 driven by Nicholas B. Lewis, 43, of Arnold, who was headed north on the highway. The front of the big rig struck the driver side of the Caliber, which was pushed off the left side of the road, the report said.
Then the big rig struck the front of a southbound 2011 Ford Explorer driven by Cheryl A. Palmisano, 50, of Wentzville, who was stopped to turn left onto Lions Den Road. That collision caused the Explorer to move backward and strike the front of a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven south by Stephanie L. Leporin, 43, of Imperial, who also was stopped to turn left onto Lions Den Road, according to the report.
Boxx was seriously injured and Palmisano was moderately injured, and both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report aid.
Boxx was in satisfactory condition as of Tuesday, Aug. 30, a hospital spokesperson said.
However, the hospital didn’t have information about Palmisano, the Mercy spokesperson said.
According to the report, all the drivers were wearing seat belts.
The Caliber was totaled, the Explorer was extensively damaged, the Freightliner was moderately damaged and the Wrangler had minor damage, the report said.
