pedestrian struck

Arnold Police are trying to locate the driver of a car who allegedly drove away after hitting a man on I-55 north of the Church Road overpass. The victim, an 18-year-old Arnold man, was seriously injured, but he has been released from the hospital, police reported.

Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said Arnold Police are not releasing the name of the man who was struck because the department is still investigating the case.

Investigators believe a gray Ford Fusion hit the man at about 2 a.m. June 14. Officers had been called to the area because a man had been seen walking on southbound I-55, the report said.

When officers arrived, they found the injured man on the shoulder near the interstate. The man was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

Arnold Police reported on June 21 that the man was treated and released from the hospital.

Investigators believe the Fusion’s front right fender and passenger’s side door and mirror were damaged in the collision. They also believe the car was manufactured between 2015 and 2020, the report said.

As of June 21, the driver had not been located, Christopher said. He asks anyone with knowledge about the accident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
