William Dobbs, 85, of Arnold was hurt late Thursday afternoon (Feb. 9), when he drove a pickup into the path of a big rig on Hwy. 61-67 in Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

At 4:30 p.m., Dobbs was driving a 1998 Ford F150 west on River Street, stopped and then while turning right onto northbound Hwy. 61-67, pulled in front of a northbound 2017 Western Star big rig, the report said.

The front of the big rig struck the left side of the pickup, and then the pickup struck a traffic signal control box, according to the report.

Dobbs was moderately injured and was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition this morning (Feb. 10), a hospital spokesman said.

Charles L. Pressler, 46, of Bonne Terre was driving the big rig. No injuries were reported for him.

Both Dobbs and Pressler were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The pickup was totaled, and the big rig was moderately damaged, the report said.
