The upcoming More Butts on Bikes Charity Golf Tournament will raise money for Living Life on 2 Wheels, which is working to develop a biking and hiking trail south of Festus.
Chris and Rene Creed of Festus, owners of the Pedal’n Pi bike and pizza shop in Crystal City, run the nonprofit Life on 2 Wheels group that promotes bicycle riding and provides bicycles for students. They also are spearheading the development of the trails to be built on property they own off Plattin Road.
The golf tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. June 1 at Crystal Highlands Golf Course, 3030 Hwy. 61, south of Festus.
Entry is $500 for a foursome.
Chris Creed said refreshments will be included.
“There will be a breakfast with cinnamon rolls from Pedal’n Pi, coffee and bloody Marys,” he said. “There will be food and other refreshments on the course from area restaurants. After the tournament, there will be a dinner and a silent auction.”
He said the tournament will include a hole-in-one contest.
Some of the proceeds from the tournament will go toward the trails.
“They will be downhill flow trails. They’re smooth,” Chris Creed said. “Our goal is to have a variety of hiking and biking trails for the public to use at the Plattin Road property. There will be trails for all skill levels. It’s for kids and adults.”
