On-site amenities abound: Gambrill Gardens offers senior living units for varying incomes

Gambrill Gardens Senior Apartments, a retirement living community in west St. Louis County, has nearly 300 rental units, all with appealing amenities and affordable to all, executive director Devon Sullivan said.

“We offer a continuum of care and price ranges,” he said. “We have low-income rental property, also higher-priced units.”

Numerous services and activities are available without having to leave the campus, he said.

“Personal training is offered,” Sullivan said. “A beauty salon is on-site. We have a 25-seat movie theater and a general store, so residents don’t have to go (off the campus) to the grocery store. We have a full-time chaplain and a 200-seat chapel.”

Residents also may go out to eat without leaving the campus.

“There are two food and drink restaurants – a bistro open for breakfast and lunch and a restaurant open for dinner,” Sullivan said.

The complex has three types of units.

“There are a mixture of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio apartments,” he said.

Sullivan said Gambrill Gardens has been open for almost four decades.

“It was originally built by the Methodist Church. We are nondenominational.”

The 297-unit senior living community, is located at 1 Strecker Road, Ellisville, in a 25-acre “park-like setting,” according to its website.

The units are housed in six apartment buildings, all linked by internal walkways extending from a central social hub.

The complex includes common areas, including outdoor courtyards and gardens. Staff can assist in coordinating services and in the navigation of medical benefits and services, the website says.
