Editor's note: We had a typo on Page 2 of the Grand Times magazine, published Oct. 4, with the wrong date for the Arnold Senior Expo. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 10. Sorry for any confusion.
Visitors to the Arnold Senior Expo, sponsored by Leader Publications, will have a lot to see and do, hear and taste, learn and enjoy. The expo, slated for Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Arnold Recreation Center, 1695 Missouri State Road, will offer a full schedule of entertainment, information and activities for those 50 and older. Admission is free and doors open at 8 a.m., with free coffee and doughnuts served immediately.
Parking is free and a continuous shuttle service will be offered, beginning at 7:45 a.m., from the parking lots to the front door of the rec center.
More than 40 vendors will be on hand, offering products and services of interest to older people. Many will host giveaways and door prizes. Expogoers may want to bring along pre-printed address labels to make entering easy.
There will be a grand prize drawing, with one lucky winner’s name drawn at random from among those who register when they enter the event. The winner will receive a two-day, two-night stay at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, Ill., about 50 miles from Arnold. The winner will be able to schedule the trip any Sunday through Thursday.
The prize package, valued at just over $350, also includes a surprise welcome gift, $100 in gift certificates to the lodge restaurant, free bicycle rental at Pere Marquette State Park and access to all the park's amenities. It is offered courtesy of Leader Publications and the PM state park. Signups will be held at the Leader Publications booth until just before the drawing.
“We hope a lot of people will come out for the expo,” said Kim Robertson, Leader managing editor. “The rec center is such a good venue for an event like this. There’ll be lots of things going on, and the chance to win some great prizes.”
A full slate of information and entertainment is planned for the morning.
