Zipper, a mixed-breed cat, would allow his owner, Joyce Boyles, to vacuum him.

The Boyles family of Festus misses their pet, Zipper, a mixed-breed cat who died a couple of years ago. While Zipper, nicknamed Zippy, was the family pet, Joyce Boyles said he was most attached to her.

“He was friendly when he wanted to be,” she said. “He was mostly my cat. He let me vacuum him.”

Zippy was interested in the neighborhood, Boyles said.

“He liked to sleep on the back of the couch,” she said. “I guess he liked to keep an eye on things when he woke up.”

Boyles said she fondly remembers her late cat.

“We had a dog and they got along. He was a good cat,” she said. “We had to have Zippy put to sleep – he had cancer. He was 16. It’s been a couple of years.
