This is Gretchen showing the world how to handle those dog days of summer in August 2013, when she was 10 years old. She’s in our family pool.
She didn’t really like water. She liked the raft, but not the water. We’d have to put her on the raft and she’d be fine for about half an hour.
Gretchen passed away in September. We haven’t replaced her. She can’t be replaced, but we’re thinking about getting another dog in the fall.
She was a person in a dog suit. She got along with other dogs. We miss her so much.
We’re a Doberman pinscher family. They’re loyal and protective, yet good with kids. They’re clean. They only shed a little in the spring. They’re just so loving. They aren’t mean as portrayed in Disney movies. For big dogs, they’re gentle.
PET SPOT invites readers to tell a story about their pets and submit it, plus an attached photo, to nvrweakly@aol.com. Please include a phone number and city of residence. A new PET SPOT is posted weekly. Barb Myles of Festus wrote this week’s submission about her family’s pets.
