Pet Spot: Sofie the tabby still skittish after many years in De Soto home

Mary Koch of De Soto submitted a photo of her cat, Sofie, for Pet Spot.

Mary Koch of De Soto said she took this photo of her tabby, Sofie, the day in 2018 she brought the cat home after adopting her. Sofie is now 8 years old.

“We had just brought her home from the Humane Society,” Koch said. “I thought it was a sweet picture.

“This photo brings back memories of the day she chose us to be her humans and how shy, sweet and a little scared she was once we got her home and situated. She liked to hide behind this floral vase and only occasionally peek out until she was convinced there was plenty of love, food, fresh water and an abundance of treats at the ready.”

Sofie remains skittish, Koch said.

“She’s really a scaredy-cat,” she said. “But, to us, she’s very sweet.”

Sofie likes to give her owners a wake-up call each day.

“Every morning, she comes in at 7 and tells us it’s time to get up,” Koch said.
